Oh, this rabbit's pictures was taken at a pet shop near Dear's flat. Cute eh? Ok I shall continue with my story.
I was at home relaxing on a Monday evening after work, when a colleague from an outlet called.
In case you didn't knew, one could apply for a VIP membership online, but the discounts will only take effect in the outlets after 24 hrs, as the webshop database is scheduled only to sync at night to push the VIP data to the frontend.
Anyway, my colleague told me that this particular customer applied online, did not read the clause that was stated on the webpage and then in less than an hour, went down to their shop and tried to purchase something. Only to find out during payment that his name was not in their record.
When my colleague tried to reason with him, he whipped out a piece of printed paper, which is the online receipt issued after the purchase of the card. On it was this sentence:
Your card will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. During this period, you may enjoy discounts both online and at our stores.
I was like, Shit! How come I didn't see this coming? I was quite sure I checked through the whole process and even showed A&P for error checking, and no one spotted the ambiguity. Damnit.
The colleague was dumbfounded when she read the receipt and kept on apologising to the fuming dude, and after the customer left she called me to inform me of the matter, obviously not very happy that she had to bear the tongue lashings due to my carelessness.
But I was quite resentful to admit it was a mistake at all, reason being that as a customer, one should read the terms and conditions properly before even applying for a card! Obviously this fella chose to ignore the fine prints and only read the receipt, which in fact sounds reasonable if he had read the 'will take effect only after 24 hours' clause in the first place.
This kind of customer super boliao lor. Pissed sia.
Luckily we never heard of that customer making a complaint today. Phew! Was I relieved. My colleague only called to tell me that the customer did called to check whether his data has appeared in the POS or not. My head's gonna roll if my boss gets word of this.
And soon after this matter, another issue cropped up. Shall continue another day as I'm turning in already.
Good night!
