Toys galore!

Believe it or not, I was a toy fanatic even till I was in Secondary 3. I recalled the last toy set that I got for myself was this Alien versus Predator set. Now I left them fighting in a box tucked away in a corner of my wardrobe.

Me and Dear Dear were spending our Friday at Vivocity, and decided to check out Toys R' Us for her nephews' presents. Suddenly there was New Blood Climax, I wanted to find something for old time's sake. After searching high and low for it, we finally found it at the end of the departmental store.

Tamiya Avante!

It was a pity I can't find the classic Avante with the translucent cover and pink rims. Instead, we saw this upgraded version of Avante which looked as cool as the Junior version, retailing at $15.95. Of course, I bought it knowing the fun it'll bring tonight!

The kit unboxed

For me, the joy of owning a Tamiya car isn't because of the races, it's because of the assembly process. That's something I would like to share with Dear! She had never built a Tamiya before so I guess she's pretty hyped up about it.

Dressing up with the stickers

I remembered having my first $12.90 Avante 18 years ago. As they were not remote controlled and could only run a straight course, it ran straight onto the road only to be ironed over by a car, its wheels turning into flattened donuts and declaring itself beyond repair. I cried like a faggot watching my toy being ruthlessly murdered by its big brother.

Dear was almost done with the stickers!

And I'm only done with the tyres. Keke.

Angry!

Nay, I was filing the edges of the rims. They had some chippy edges and it didn't look professional right?

Oh, someone was slacking in one corner. Gotta rope her in to help prop up the instructions manual!

Woo? Why me?

Dear didn't even notice I was bullying her baby. She got too engrossed in her Build-A-Tamiya project. I was busy too! Busy filing the plastics and taking all the shots you see here.

好 man 喔 !

Almost there ..

This new range of models now come with a double shaft motor for that real 4-wheel drive. Eh, after test driving it I don't think there's much improvements in the speed. Maybe I'll get a hyper-dash motor sometime.

Tada ~ !
Don't you love the color of them rims ?

My new ride!

The man who didn't want to grow up

Tamiya project success!

Somehow, the kick wasn't that strong while building it. Is it because the new models are easier to build, or because I've grown out of that blur-kok phase? No matter what, it's still nice to see an old friend. My next project would be a real car model!

And oh yes, Elmo Live (retailing at around $129) made it's first appearance in Singapore yesterday at Parkway Isetan. I actually caught a preview of it when Dear sent me this video of it demonstrating its cuteness! Too bad, the one we saw at Isetan was not very entertaining. Anyhow, here's the vid taken yesterday. You might want to reward your little sunshine with it this Christmas.

Enjoy!
