Updates @ work

Ello everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates lately. As ya'll know, the CRM project is very large-scaled, like a freaking giant fish. Waa~ . Much effort has to be put in, and I've been trying to simplify the tables and concurrently, trying to understand what information each table holds. This is one helluva job for my simpleton mind. There are roughly 100 tables and after going through them, erm.. I guess I won't want to comment much but according to my shackness level, there's still room for improvement.

There was a meeting yesterday, the very first of the many which will drag until end of December, where the vendor initiates 'meet the users' sessions that starts with the Membership department. I believe my role then was more of the vendor than a user; I knew nuts about our company's system! So there they were talking about the membership processing and me and my executive colleague were like scratching heads. So confusing!

So instead of finding Confucius for the confusion, I urged myself to put in more effort to study the tables until my mind twisted into a lump of shit. Then I cannot tahan anymore and downed my Nescafes. It was only until the end of today's gruelling 4 hrs session of understanding the processes at the front end that I finally realised.. I'm stupid. So I seeked Boss's help and I believe he's a good friend of Confucius. He made me uber confused that I confirmed and concluded that I'm going to concuss.

But I am happy at work. The things that I do here are actually more challenging than in my previous employments. Isn't it good to inject some optimism into yourself once in awhile?

I had this special lunch last week. Joslyn and some female colleagues actually have lunch at a temple across the road. And of course it didn't came for free, I mean, it's stated free lunch in the temple but you wouldn't be a freeloader right? So Jos jio'ed me for lunch there and little did I knew that I'd be greeted by some 'holy' beings when I set foot in the compound.

2 splats of bird shit hit me on the arms. Holy? Holy Shit man!

One landed on the left arm, and the other on the right sleeve. The one on my arm was painful because on closer inspection, I could see that it was made up of tiny things like sesame seeds. Come on lah you don't expect me to take photos of the bird shat right? What would Joslyn think of me? Like Alan loves to take pictures of shit? Luckily it wasn't all gooey else I would've fainted on the spot. I thought that I could have sinned so much that it was karma in the form of animal waste.

Ok enough of that disrespect, I was actually quite impressed with Joslyn's devotion to the religion. There were like 4 or more giant Buddha idols and Joslyn did 3 full bows for each statue, with the joss stick horizontal on her forehead. I just prayed with the joss stick upright between my palms. Then we proceeded to the canteen where I can see many construction workers already having their meals. I even spotted some workers of other nationalities there. We took the bowls and cutlery off the shelves, gave them a good rinse and went to get our food.

Food came in the form of rice, and there was a table with those pans that you see in buffet lunches. Only 3 of them were filled, and all were filled with bean sprouts! Jos commented that on other days, there were many more varieties. Maybe it just wasn't my luck. I was thinking of sesame seeds when she said that. But well, I wasn't complaining as in the bean sprouts, there was taupok hidden in it too!

5 mins after we tucked in, an uncle pushed out a trolley with some trays, in those trays I could barely make out what were the contents, but aiyah bochap lah just queue for it man. Thinking of my yau kwee face that day I kind of like paiseh lor. It was in fact fried mushrooms and tau kee. All tasted nice! I couldn't have been more grateful for such a wonderful meal. Not knowing why, I finished up all the food without leaving any grains of rice behind.

Feeling bloated, we made our way back to our company with me scurrying for cover. The Sleeping Buddha must have been smiling for seeing a man so scared of birds. Me, Jos and fellow colleagues spent the rest of our lunchtime in AAS cafe, TCSS, watching Channel Newsasia and reading newspaper.

I can't wait for next week to start!
