New Job!

Argh! This is my very first contract job. The sight of the word 'contract' spells uncertainty, it means you might not be staying in the company for long because your stay there has been 'contracted'. I'm trying hard to expand my contract and I'll have to try every ways and means to do it!

First day of work. Being led around by the HR Senior Exec and introduced to all the strangers. And those in my department consists of an uncle called Louis, and another lady called Joslyn. Uncle Louis is the IT Assistant there and he has been around for 13 years! I share the same title of MIS Executive with Ms Joslyn. Very helpful people, they were. Each of them took turns to explain how things work over there, which left me pretty saturated at the end of each day.

I was instructed to study all kinds of policies, procedures, browsed through the different folders where the schema of the existing database and other important documents were kept in. Ultimately, I need to understand how their system flows before I can handle the main task, which was to head the new CRM (Customer Relationship Management) project. Talking about that, we're going to kick-start it next week! Heard from the CFO that it's a million $ project so it's kind of giving me the jitters.

Admist the stressful situation was Uncle Louis. He's such a joker. I asked him:

'Yo, care to teach me more about the membership table? The one that stores data about their membership details.'

He went; 'What table? This?' And goes on knocking on his own table. Duh!

And he would always bicker with Joslyn. Jos is so damn serious that when I said that the faulty chair I was sitting on 'submarined', she said my joke was too cold and couldn't even squeeze a smile. I'm trying to get into her good books cos her SQL is so strong! My SQL standard needs some querying though. Ha!

The atmosphere in the company is superb, everyone works happily together, my boss doesn't give me a stern face, and he even jokes with us when we were out for lunch together. I'd hope that kind of mood would last cos it'll really be a morale booster to me. I really can't stand a working environment where everyone does their own things. For my current employment, I believe I can give my best to them if they treat me well!

Another benefit from working in town area is that I get to have lunch with Miss Kalene as her workplace is just 4 stops away. Erm, did I mention that the people in my office takes around 2 hours to have lunch? =o Eh but my working hours per week is 47.5 ok, that's kind of lenghty isn't it?

Ok, I'll keep you guys posted. Been so busy at work trying to understand the table structures. Enjoy the weekends!
