My Virgin DBSS-Showroom experience

I'm unsure if the title makes any sense. In any case, me and Lovely were among the many checking out the showroom for the DBSS flats (Natura Loft), that is about to be launched in Bishan. Prior to this, I have not visited any showrooms before so was kind of feeling excited. I wonder if there will be any pushy salesman trying to ask us to buy a unit on the 40th storey? Gosh, my CPF account couldn't take that pressure!

We arrived there amidst a slight drizzle, and there was an area designated for all interested parties to view the showroom. Both of us were given a queue number, hinting that the response is quite good! A sweet-looking Chinese lady was shouting out the queue numbers every now and then. She was so blaring that when it was our turn and I walked past her, she shouted into my ear and kind of deafened me for awhile.

I heard someone from the crowd saying: Woah this kind of girl ah, at home the husband sure do her bidding one. Teehee.

So we took off our footwear and we were being ushered around by someone called David. Firstly, he showed us the 3D model of the flats. Being a condo-styled flat, it is a 4 point-block kind, that means 4 flats at a corner for each level. Eh come on lah, don't laugh at me because I'm not knowledgeable in all these. Already declared it's my virgin visit liao mah.

The main thing that I don't like most for the flat are those Bay Windows. For those virgins out there who are like me in this sense, a bay window is structured with an awkward, horizontal concrete beam jutting out below the window. Some may use it as a place to sit down and enjoy the view outside but seriously, all the rooms and even the kitchen and toilet has a bay window! The kitchen's one is up to my chin level somemore! The toilet's 'bay' extends outwards for like a 1m*2m. Kalene asked the agent what's the bay in the toilet actually for, and she said we could use it to place our toiletries etc. I was thinking do I have a big-ass soap that measures 1m*1m, lor.

I think my besty ever mentioned to me the reason for all these jutty slabs, is that the skeleton of the flat is built with the intention of compromising the space of our homes. That is, the steel reinforcements are being pushed into the apartment's surface area. Thus making the whole flat take up a reduced area on the land itself! So they should discount us mah, instead of making us pay so much more for such new flats. Sigh.

Ok lah, I cannot flame anyone for making this decision since Singapore is already so limited in space. Maybe I have to buy many Hello Kitties and line them up on the 'bays'. Other than that, the toilets, bedrooms and masturbate master bedroom are pretty spacious, but the kitchen is very small. Just stand in the centre of the kitchen and everything will be within your reach! As it is a DBSS flat, the cabinets, wardrobes, toilet mirrors are preinstalled. I checked the built of the cupboards and wardrobes and my conclusion is, I know shit about wood.

The doors of the kitchen cupboards are very user-friendly, it has a slow motion closing feature so that you do not have to worry about your kid having the fingers slammed by the door. Rather thoughtful right? We walked around further, and there's even a planter in the balcony for you to put your peanut butter jars! We both thought of covering that up since we are not botanists.

I later found a nicely decorated prayer room. The agent told me it's actually the bomb shelter. Wow, they really took pains to decorate every nook and cranny, for that I'll up them 100 points. The showroom was so nicely done up it feels as though you were in a hotel room. And one thing that got Lovely stirred is a preinstalled rain showerhead in the M bedroom toilet! A spanking new bathtub was lying motionless on the floor too! Ok it's not supposed to move. The agent bursted my bubble by saying it does not come included. Sheesh.

We took around an hour to view the showroom, and I must say after this visit, I'm much more motivated to find a better place to create a better home. At 95 square metre, it is just right for me and her and maybe, alanKalene juniors. Considering again, other factors hindered our decision, like we are not able to hack the M bedroom wall, but only allowed to do so for the wall seperating the other two bedrooms. It's like kinda demoralising cos we need a lot more room for our bedroom activities. Hmm. No lah, Lovely just wants a bigger bedroom cos more space to put our stuff mah.

And the location of the flat was more of a concern to me. Even though it is considered very near Junction 8, we still have to take a bus there. Natura Loft is located just beside Catholic High and Whiteley Secondary School. And there wasn't a shortcut that we could find that leads us to J8. The other main factor is that it is too expensive (I heard it's starting at 450k)! Like we have to pay almost 40k in cash, not forgetting to deplete our entire CPF OA? Kaoz. No wonder we don't see many young couples in the showroom.

Alright, for now, we will just have to wait and see. Our next target would be the one in Toa Payoh Lorong 1A. Hope that it'll be more affordable!

Eh by the way, sorry ah if there's any lack of photos. Just afraid we might be violating any laws.
